family law-adoption, guardianship, and divorce

The most rewarding area of practice for me is Adoption.  Through adoption you are creating or adding to a family.  What is better than a happy family?  Adoption is, therefore, an important decision that should not be taken lightly.  Let me provide help and guidance to you through this experience.  You may be looking at a step-parent adoption or a private adoption or an agency adoption or even an international adoption.  I have experience in all of these types of adoption and can represent you through the legal proceedings.  If you have immigration questions regarding your adoption I will provide guidance to you.

Guardianship is another area of law that can provide help and relief in family situations.  A guardianship of a minor allows you to provide for and raise a child, not your own, in a better environment than that child now has.  With a guardianship, you do not become the legal parent of the child, but you do become responsible for some of parental responsibilities like caring and providing for the child, making decisions for the child on medical, education, religious and other matters.

A guardianship may also be the best thing for an incapacitated adult, who would have trouble making important health and other decisions. We have also all heard stories of the elderly being taken advantage of by others, even members of their own family.  A conservatorship can also be included in a guardianship proceeding.  A conservator can protect an adult from dissipation of assets, so that the adult can retain the assets necessary to provide for their future comfort and care.

Physical abuse?  Verbal abuse?  Adultery? Just grown apart and want to move on with your life?  Come to me for help through the Divorce process.  Divorce is hard enough in and of itself.  Don’t try to do it on your own.  Let me represent your interests to make sure you get a fair settlement.  Divorce does not have to create ill feelings towards your ex-spouse.  If you have children, especially, you are going to have dealings with your ex-spouse for many years to come.  I want to help you obtain divorce terms that will at least allow you to stay on speaking terms with each other.  This does not mean that I will not fight for your rights.  Fair in one respect means that no one has taken advantage of you.  This extends to post-divorce matters as well.  If you need to change terms of the divorce decree, I can help you as well.

Child custody, child support, alimony, property distribution, debt division, retirement and other factors all need special attention in divorce and involve tough decisions.  Let me provide help and support to you to make those tough decisions.  I can make sure you get the help you need to make sure your divorce terms are to your satisfaction.
